I neglected to include WKT in my post above, namely the Lindi Jumbo project in South-east Tanzania. What a debacle!
Insiderunner Africa is a far greater sovereign risk than Australia. POSCO who need certainty I believe will [have] give up on east Africa as it is too risky. It's hard to see with elections to be held later in the year, that Tanzania and potential grassroots uprising will change this situation especailly with stories like this - Tanzania democracy in crisis
Furthermore, China has long held a dominant position in East Africa. The basic question of why there are so many Australian businesses in Africa is seldom asked. Particularly when they are right outside of Europe. Therefore, why doesn't Europe embrace it?
In my opinion, Europeans are hoping that African's will see Australian's as less appetising because colonialism has tainted European engagement and Australia is one of them.Africa and China both have experience oppression from Europe and Britian in particular. This fact could coming home to roost as they have never forgotten. Unfortunately, with long and deep-rooted diplomatic and economic relations, China has taken the initiative.
As East African companies die-off one by one, our resident troll is beginning to seem like 'sour grapes' is their motivation. Thus, the erratic short posts and the absence of other trolls who would usually follow is telling.
