China, being a net importer of graphite, needs to shore up its own supply too. Having depressed the price, I think now's a good time to buy. If I were China, where might be prime for the taking? Africa. Buy on the open market? Possibly. Or easier, offer a percent or two more in royalties to a Governement that's open to cancelling an existing lease in the national interest (more revenue). They would have built some good relationships through the belt and road initiative. Balama, Epanko, Bunyu? If it happened, it would leave even less ex-China supply on the table for the many countries wanting to ween off China dependence (in a soon to be supply strapped market). Also, flooding the market to depress price only works while a single price remains. To meet IRA/European subsidy requirements, it needs to be non-China. Surely a separate price will naturally emerge for non-China concentrate and PSG. High demand and limited supply has to push that non-China price way higher. I think ready for production BOAs on the table and a PSG pipeline has to put RNU in the middle of a tinder box. Interesting times ahead IMO. GLTAH
