Perhaps Western Companies are a tad too greedy however the main reason Graphite and graphite products are trading so low is because The Chinese government subsidises its graphite producers just as they do with all their critical minerals and rare earths producers.
As per my previous post the US Dept of Commerce and the US States International Trade Commission will be making their final determinations by years end in regards to what the final % of duties will be placed on Chinese graphite producers. As per below these duties could be as high as 700% .
Just for the exercise, that 700% would increase the price of PSG to approx US$10,794/ tonne. This is based on todays PSG price of US$1542/ tonne.
I don't believe it would go that high however I'm confident that something like a 300% increase is do-able which would bring up the price to approx US$4,626 / tonne. About where RNU team have budgeted on.
We will all know once those determinations are made.
Certainly will be a positive for RNU's share price .
Western countries are fully aware that they cannot rely on one single entity to supply anything, especially critical minerals. There shall be a cost to re aligning the supply chains but the cost of not doing so is potentially much more expensive.
On May 27, 2025, the U.S. Department of Commerce issued its preliminary determination in the antidumping and countervailing duty investigations of active anode material from China. The ruling confirmed that Chinese producers received unfair subsidies, with some facing duties exceeding 700%.
Additionally, the United States International Trade Commission (USITC) determined that imports of active anode material from China were materially retarding the establishment of a U.S. industry.
