Hey Swanny, we got a outlander Phev that can do ~50km on pure EV. (New model can do ~80km) Put in a zappi charger that can do up to 7KW charging (not 3 phase) The outlander max's out at 3.4kw charge rate. Cost us around $2k for the charger and install. The zappi is awesome, UK product. We have 6.5 Kw solar set up and I set the Zappi to charge only on excess solar. I've then set a boost charge during the off peak hours overnight when power is cheap as chips. This tops the battery off if solar doesn't get the job done.
It's working well for us at the moment as wife is home with a new baby so car can get a charge during the day from solar. It actually warned us the other day that we need to fill up with fresh fuel to refresh the tank. It was about 3 months since we'd filled up.
