what China does probably not such a big deal to the west. Having seen a few chinese built cars, alot of the are garbage. Heavy, poor quality etc etc. Drove an MG3 petrol that sounded like a fkn diesel
They will do what they can to cut costs and make their cars cheaper. If you are OK with the battery weighing 3x as much, less power and performance, thats fine. I am sure it will have a market in china where people just want to get from A to B.
Since range has always been such a massive perceived problem with EV's, adding extra weight to your car isnt going to help.
In addition, China is not our buyer so not really a big deal imo
