Yep I saw the noprthvolt article, bit of a hype'ey type pop media BS, fair enough. I think 100% sodium batteries will have their place (particularly looking at grid storage) since its unlikely to be viable on mass using Li - particularly during the largest growth phase of EV uptake.
Maybe some with make their way into vehicles, maybe for a small town car, a sodium ion battery will be OK (talking about people driving 5-10km per day to the shops/school and back). We will see. The fact China does something, is not a convincing point for me though.
Regardless of all this, when you think about how many cars are on the road, and if even 50% were EV the sheer amount of material required is mind boggling. There is so much room to grow for every decent company in the battery mineral space IMO. Give it 5 yrs and I cant imagine many quality companies not being big winners.
