NZ Tapped For Geothermal Study Manila Bulletin – Fri, Jul 20, AFP News Reuters
The Department of Energy (DoE) is engaging the assistance of the New Zealand government for a feasibility study that will update resource assessment on Philippine geothermal potential.
This will be in line with the government's target to double the country's geothermal power installation to roughly 4,000 megawatts; or an addition of about 2,000 megawatts from the current installed capacity 1,966 megawatts.
"The data we have on our geothermal resources were as far back as 1970s so we will need to update them ...we are engaging the help of the New Zealand government to help us on this," Energy Undersecretary Jay Layug has noted.
