This should be excellent news also for GNX - from today's The Aus Business:AGL Energy will operate one of Australia’s biggest batteries after signing a deal with Singapore renewable giant Vena Energy for the storage project at Wandoan in Queensland.
The 100 megawatt battery will be able to power up to 57,000 homes once complete in late 2021 and aims to provide storage to soak up the state’s booming solar output.
Its size puts it on par with Elon Musk’s battery in South Australia which is expected to boost capacity by a further 50 per cent this year.
The battery system “will enable AGL to leverage excess solar generation in Queensland and provide capacity when the Coopers Gap Wind Farm and other renewable power sources are not generating,” AGL chief executive Brett Redman said.
