Thanks jezyh. Not because I want to be right, more because cheaper, simpler fixed speed turbines make sense. GNX could always add a small-big battery to manage fluctuations - add more cells later if desired. PH and batteries bring complimentary qualities and features to a power generator. Having both would be ideal for Kidston, particularly when it is connected to the E Australian grid by a high quality 135Kv power line.

The Townsville Bulletin story above does NOT say EA is about to sign a PPA. The closing sentence says: "An announcement on the energy project is expected within days." Which could mean anything or nothing and anyone relying on that in making a sharemarket investment is a damn fool.

If you were EA, would you sign a long-term PPA just as CV-19 causes a recession, or worse? You would at least wait until current uncertainties pass.
