If we tried to take on a greenfields project, that was needlessly in a biodiverse (hence valuable) high rainfall(hence biodiverse) area, when we really don't need that. As we are not a seasonal storage system.
Then provided we don't purposefully throw ourselves in harm's way versus environemental approvals then find ing low ecological impact sites really isn't all that hard.
The ANU made short list of 22000 in Australia, all that were notionally not awful for approvals as they were all outside national parks.
Lots of them were on already cleared land in use for farming.
If we stuck with and picked the best of those instead of making a rod for our own backs ...
I am not actually concerned by that at all.
