Guys, for those a little vague re oil production sequence and Rubicon Intrepid.
1. FPSO on location and attached to buoy or riser. May windmill through a degree of arc or 360 degrees. This mooring is the former. RI is a dynamic positioned vessel.
2. Oil flow lines (may be more than one)and umbilicals connected (hydraulic control lines controlling sub sea valves and safety circuits etc)
3. First oil through the flowlines to the production skid, usually under natural pressure from within the well and various processes to separate oil from gas and water. Light ends keep flashing off in the well structure maintaining vapour pressure.
4. Oil to RI tanks. Gas for power and gas lift. Water processed until virtually oil free.
5. Gas reinjection (gas lift) in the mature well to accelerate oil to the surface.
6. Vessel makes oil until a marketable parcel is processed (Max 450000 bbls in this vessels case)
7. A buyer is found who (if not a ship owner) will charter a tanker to be available for an exact date and time (laycan)of usually about 48 hrs. Tanker berths bow to RI stern and oil is transferred via a floating hose. Run down of oil from the well continues throughout the operation. (production is God!!!)
8. Vessel unberths and goes to whatever refinery is the ultimate destination.
