I think it’s quite likely we will get there, just not in the timeframes suggested.
We also refuel out ice engines at dedicated safe refueling stations. That will become a very real issue when you can charge at your local supermarket while shopping, but it will only take a few run away batteries for that to become a real issue.
However I believe it’s all possible, just not in 8 years. Look at the sheer number of house fires caused by solar, we’ve a lot to learn.
