You're comparing apples to oranges here, so let me clarify. LPI used a temporary submersible electric pump, connected to a generator. Galan, on the other hand, used an airlift pumping method(for this particular hole). Airlift tests use a compressor to displace the brine and can be used in exploration holes to provide an early estimate of permeability etc., and they have the added advantage of being able to attach to the drill rig.
So, in this instance Galan's airlift method may have been more practical for this particular borehole given it's an exploration hole and the team probably wanted a rough idea. There's actually several types of "pumping tests" available to use and each has their own merits.
