When it comes to equity investments in Ni/Co mining/manufacturing, there are tons of MOU which means NOTHING.
ONLY GM made an equity investment into a Ni/Co project thus far, but this will only give them access to Ni/Co sulphate (if everything goes well with QPM). NO OTHER carmaker has confirmed an equity investment in ANY Ni/Co project, existing operator or developer!
There are off-take agreements with existing suppliers, but this is not enough to secure metals in a long run.
GM seems to like dealing with Australia, hopefully, more deals to be announced soon.
Where will EOMs source their Nickel and Cobalt from?
