I 100% agree with you.

And where you topped up on the expectation of news is a mistake we all make/have made and will likely continue to make.

When things look good, it's impossible to see the bad, and when things are bad, it's impossible to see the good.

Being a contrarian investor isn't easy, and you'd need to be a machine to get it right all the time.

Where I've invested high, I try to invest lower where the thesis hasn't changed. It's only when a company is failing etc that I feel the need to bail.

Even so, I don't expect any shareprice change on the basis of news, because it's often priced in. Sometimes it's just a case of waiting for the macro environment to change.
