There are currently exciting developments in the field of solid-state batteries: quantumscape.com has recently achieved breakthroughs, MB Technologie partner Prologium is building up capacity in Europe (https://prologium.com/midpoint-event-for-prologium-and-rtes-ongoing-consultation-on-the-solid-state-battery-gigafactory-project-in-dunkirk/ -(Market research report content: https://www.statsndata.org/report/global-23119))
The technology as an additional battery technology for EVs offers many advantages over the batteries currently in use, but the lithium requirement of solid-state cells is between 40% and 99% higher than of conventional batteries. Coupled with strategic goals to reduce current market dominances, this technology could become very exciting for lithium recovery.
All in all, despite the tough year 2023, I am very positive about the future opportunities and further development of NMT.
