I've also listened to his amusing interviews. Fortunately, I have no interest in forming an intimate relationship with Mr. David John Dicker. The guy plays with a straight bat doesn't he? Reckons that stock picking on the ASX is a mugs game. He trades the U.S. markets. He doesn't care about debt, says he'll use equity to pay it off. Reckons that the reason that DDR outperform their competitors is because "well, we're just better than them". Hates paying tax to the Aussie Government, hence his current country of residence.

So yeah, you don't get to be the owner of a business that you started from scratch that's now worth 2 billion dollars by not doing your own thing, in your own way. And guess what? I reckon that right now at this very minute, they're shifting boxes at the warehouse.
