I’m fairly lean so my weight is pretty stable. I have tracked it daily over years and it generally ranges 76-80 depending on my state of training, unless I choose to take it higher or lower for various reasons. I don’t believe weight changes have played a role in my subjective experience of my arthritis symptoms through my treatment.

On the other hand, had my physical activity been restricted the way I thought it would be given my arthritis, I’d either be fatter, or have much less muscle, be less fit and definitely less healthy. PPS has definitely had a large positive impact on my body composition by allowing me to train hard.

GLP-1 agonists will certainly help people with arthritis, but I can’t imagine the results would be as fast or as profound as I and others have experienced, with significant relief in a matter of weeks. I don’t think these drugs will provide anything like the effect of PPS although they will certainly help some people. I think if you’re looking to treat OA, Ozempic would be an adjunct treatment for the overweight subset of the patient population, rather than a substitute for PPS. We may lose some sales at the margin but I’m pretty relaxed about it.

And I do have one concern about the use of these drugs for OA and that is that the weight loss is not just fat but lean body mass as well - muscle. One of the best things you can do for OA is strengthen the muscles supporting the joint. If you’re taking GLP-1 agonists you need to pay close attention to diet and resistance training to preserve lean body mass. Loss of muscle is probably not going to be great for either OA or general health long term, so use these drugs judiciously.
