Special interests, control, and dollars is the game especially in Qld.

1. The government want big business including semi govt. suppliers to keep control and to keep being able to charge everybody for power. The more monopoly like, the better. If people with enough roof space, en masse, decided to give the grid and the suppliers the flick and install solar and batteries, suppliers and government would have less of a base to recover their costs. They would most likely resort to taxing people who were not connected to the grid if this happened.

2. Current governments especially the current Qld government promote and support unions and big business over small business and individuals. A key part of this is to over regulate everything.
