"residential customers would need two batteries" – seriously? somebody from Redflow actually said those words?! This is absolutely the first time I have heard anything like this from the company. In the past the company has always stated that the BMS would manage the maintenance cycle so that a residential household wouldn't notice the maintenance cycle except for the rarest moments of bad luck:
    1. The maintenance cycle would commence only while grid power was available.
    2. As far as possible, the cycle would be timed to end at a time when the lowest-price inputs (e.g. solar and/or off peak) would be available for recharging.
    3. The battery would drain to the household load to the greatest extent possible to minimise waste of energy.

So a residence would only notice the maintenance cycle in the event that the grid dropped off when the solar input was insufficient to support the household, and the battery was too low to make up the difference.

If Redflow is now saying that two batteries are required for a residence, then the residential market will never be within reach.
