The Anaergia system in California uses 192 10KwH ZBM batteries. The Yackandandah installation would require about 28 ZBMs. The cost of the Anaergia system is $US1.2 million or about $US6000 per battery. The cost for a Yackandandah equivalent would be about $A216,000 - fully installed and using the earlier battery design, not the cheaper Gen 3. Would RedFlow be competitive? Yes, Sir!
Yackandandah has a population (according to the news item) of 1800. This equates to about 800 houses, so to fully equip the town would take 20 systems of the size of this original. There are hundreds of towns of this size in Australia and thousands in the USA: an enormous market for which Simon's cube is perfect.
