I don't know what there would be to be jealous about. Without getting into a political debate about the benefits and faults of protectionism it does appear that western nations haven't fully appreciated the importance of lithium.
That would also be why 2 Chinese companies are wanting in on SQM and with some persuasion Chile is likely to bend to the requirements set down and lift the restrictions they place on the company.
