I think a healthy bit of scepticism is important when investing, hardly tinfoil haha.

Irrespective of timing on the media reporting, I would think the ethics approval was as close to a "done deal" as you could get since the Phase 1 ethics approval sailed through and the company due to the empirical research they hold was able to pass over Phase 2 and straight into Phase 3. To put it another way, I don't think there was a reason for it not to be approved on what is publicly reported.

Over the counter CBD is not new and not much controversy around it, but the other preps the company has on the books around MDMA are different and the ethics etc around that won't be as straight forward. That said, the right people with the right resources to invest are behind this company and they don't get to where they are without backing the right horses (if you catch my drift).

The Phase 3 design is interesting - very specific - psychological distress in patients with chronic pain. I like it, as a cohort, it makes a lot of sense and I would think a fairly safe play.
