Woodside and Santos in merger talks – Australia’s two largest oil and gas producers tap into global M&A trend.
"Woodside confirmed the development on Thursday and said that "it is in discussions regarding a potential merger with Santos”. “Discussions remain confidential and incomplete, and there is no certainty that the discussions will lead to a transaction,” it stated.
The two oil and gas players have a combined market capitalisation of up to $62 billion, as of today.Woodside said that “as a global energy company, Woodside continuously assesses a range of opportunities to create and deliver value for shareholders”.
Woodside will continue to update the market in accordance with its continuous disclosure obligations, it added."
