Roch2077 In the modern oil and gas industry, oil and gas companies rarely drill exploration wells without having seismic, otherwise they are drilling blind. 3D seismic meant everything to TOTAL, because it increased the chance of success of discovering hydrocarbons at the pre-drill Venus prospect, to the point where TOTAL committed to the drill. The Venus 3D seismic had a strong AVO anomaly where the amplitude shutoff conformed to structure - a direct hydrocarbon indicator.
Without seismic, TOTAL would never and drilled the massive Venus discovery.
So, 3D seismic means everything to Woodside and PCL, just as it did for TOTAL. Woodside and PCL will be looking for a similar AVO anomaly over Saturn just like seen over Venus.
