and while on Galp-Mopane giant oil discovery and hopefully a precedent for a discovery in PEL 87 and PCL, the following analysis courtesy of "Deepwater Insight" may be of interest.
With reference to the article below, the offshore Guyana Lisa Oil Field is reported as one billion boe recoverable and the total estimate for the Stabroek Permit and multiple discoveries is 11 billion boe recoverable. Chevron has launched a takeover bid for Hess and its 30% stake in the Stabroek Block.
I don't believe we will see any takeover action on PCL until a discovery is made in PEL 87.
Should a significant discovery be made with the first PEL 87 well drilling in the first calendar quarter 2025 (according to Sintana), then I am of the view that we will see takeover/sale action of PCL's 20% interest in PEL 87.
Majors are getting acquistive and don't seem to be too worried about he impending greens fossil fuel and global warming doom scenario!
