@V10, your rationale regarding the ability of 3D to much better delineate a stratigraphic trap, especially given the effectiveness of AVO analyses in those plays, is right on to me. And given @coeus12345 heard it straight from Robert Bose has me very much looking forward to his subsequent posts as well. I've only a couple of things to add in this regard, fwiw. First, I'd note that 3D seismic also helps delineate structural highs much better than 2D, and secondly, although HRT was the operator, Galp was already exhibiting an openness back in 2013 to shift from drilling carbonate plays (Wingat-1) to targeting clastic plays (Murombe-1) in PEL 23 in the Walvis basin, though not completely as they still went on to participate in targeting the former (Moosehead-1), again unsuccessfully.
