    Our Canadian stock blog counterparts over at CEO:SEI think big moves are afoot;

    @Timberdoodle A chess game;
    Exxon has its share of huge development with Stabroek in Guyana moreover being in the driver seat $ maybe they are currently looking for an asset with immediate revenue & value increase instead. A one you get from new acquisition a process they are very familiar with. From a Giant standpoint maybe Woodside constitutes a better investment at this stage.

    After Guyana I think Chevron needs to hit a homerun given it's current litigation with Exxon stalling Hess deal. Chevron is also known to be circling Woodside another neighbor & by all means not a small deal.
    With things starting in PEL 90 maybe a hat trick is in the cards for Chevron, PEL 87,90 and 83 in this order (lol).
    I for one would not be surprised to hear Chevron is already having a big fight with Exxon to get Woodside first.
    In this case Chevron really needs to be hungry to swallow Galp 40% stake in Mopane.
    For this reason we might see an alliance of several Major Players including Shell and Petrobras coming in for Galp avaiable stake.

    On the other hand if Chevron swallows Woodside first maybe Exxon will change his mind and finally make a move on Galp but if Exxon already won the deal with Woodside that would explain why the Mighty Company stepped down for Galp available 40% in Mopane.
    In this case Chevron next move after loosing Woodside will be impressive (fomo with Galp) & nice to watch to say the least.
    I can't wait to see the whole story unfolds.
