Here is the Orange River where it enters the Atlantic Ocean today.
500kms to the north To Walvis Bay is all sand ..... approximately 100 kms wide ...... Sand could have been washed into the Basin or blown there by wind and then covered up with soil or silt or whatever to form the top seal and may have happened before the separations of the continents others may have a better idea of this than me.
The point that I am trying to make to everyone is the extent of the sand that exists on the coast today ..... and maybe there was as much or more available to form the reservoirs when Saturn and Mopane and Venus were formed. I think that Saturn maybe one of the voluminous collections like the area on this map just south of Walvis Bay.
I recommend that, if you are interested, open up Google earth and check this area out in detail.
