If the desert sands were as extensive or in fact greater than they are now before the South American and the African continents divided then the volumes of reservoir quality deposits will, IMHO, be enormous.
Yes there will be fragmentation due to the Orange River impacts but I think that there will be a significant number of massive reservoir systems that could be potentially filled with hydrocarbons .... especially give the extensive source rocks under the whole area and what appears to be good seals over the top.
