    I do not think a missing aquifer means a reduced recovery factor. Its quiet the opposite actually. The recovery factor of oil will be higher if there is no water contact as water is more permeable and will flow first. In absence of water, the oil recovery are better. At some point in the future EOR techniques will be implemented to keep resrvoir pressure and continue a steady pace of oil production -- and that may involve water flooding. But an absence of aquifier in itself improves recovery factor, not reduce it.
