    @OldGeo, i figured that was the case, but did not make too much of a deal about it, as we will soon get the company's figures. Besides which, the information was there for folks to elicit their own views. For example, taking a simple view - which Im good at, one could simply x3 the numbers you posted for the Oryx (and Hyrax) leads just before they fall off their chair.

    The devil however will be in the detail.

    I too do not want to throw the numbers about willy nilly...having been burnt (i think?) in the past, but for the first time im beginning to think that the 40 B BBL OIP number being thrown around or having previously slipped out of mouths might not be too much of a stretch. The potential numbers are nothing short of stupendous.

    Two key areas of consideration:

    • reservoir parameters...reservoir thickness; net to gross; and effective porosity/permeability have a big role to play in both OOIP and ROIP (folks can look up the acronyms).
    • the presence of water drive (aquifer sitting under the oil) and low viscosity oil are the best friends one could have in this business.

    Neither of these will be known until one or more drills have been completed.
