    Hi Melindax71,
    "Dirty river" was the term used by geologist Marcio Mello. My interpretation is that the Orange River contained significant quantities of clays, silts and muds (fines) which were transported from the river mouth out into shallower and deeper water. We need processes to rework/winnow out these fines to enhance reservoir quality.
