Below are some of my thoughts on the various AVO oil discoveries provided by Galp and their potential relevance to PEL-87. Very little information has been provided to establish which specific stratigraphic interval the AVO anomalies occur in. Each panel is annotated to provide some interpretation. Labels C? B? A? are an attempt to designate each potential play type from Mopane and how they may relate to PEL-87.
PEL-87 does not appear to contain the (C?) gravity-driven fold/thrust belt (GDFTB) complex present in the south.
C? = Graff-type play in the gravity-driven fold/thrust belt (GDFTB)
B? = Main Mopane play type equivalent.
A? = Deeper Mopane targets. Age not provided.
Z? = Potential PEL-87 basin floor fan play.
