Offshore driller Valaris will bring a warm-stacked ultra-deepwater drillship back into service to meet a new two-year contract for its drillship DS-10 in West Africa with an undisclosed operator.The pact is for $352 million, suggesting a dayrate of $482,000. It comes with a pair of one-year options.The work is scheduled to begin in either the second or third quarter, according to a Valaris announcement.The DS-10 is currently warm stacked in Spain, according to the latest fleet status report from Valaris, and its last contract ended last August in Nigeria.Before the contract announcement, Valaris had anticipated that the DS-10 would be warm stacked through the end of the year, company officials said on the driller’s fourth quarter earnings call.“This contract award is a testament to the safety and operational performance of Valaris DS-10 and its crews, which have an excellent track record of successfully executing clients’ well programs offshore West Africa,” Valaris chief executive Anton Dibowitz said in a statement.
