with the election looming, it strikes me as odd that not a big song and dance is made of the Albanese policy of taxing unrealised capital gains.
For all sharemarket investors, this is nothing short of an atrocity. People will be compelled to sell down their shares simply to pay tax on capital gains they have not realised. This will allow market sharks to pounce on the resultant price weakness and you will see wild swings in price wiping out gains.
Does not matter what they try to do to sugar coat it, this is the thin edge of the wedge. If they get up, they will pursue the policy. And they will extend it across the board (theyre only targeting super funds atm)
All of us on here will take a bath, having risked our capital.
