Hard to say how the oil price will move much after the US...

Hard to say how the oil price will move much after the US bombing of Iran over the weekend. Though for many countries its the main source, the US currently has little oil dependency on Middle East oil and many US oil traders unlikely to offer inflated oil prices. OPEC currently has some 3 million barrels of spare production capacity that is not being called on and this will hold prices fairly stable unless the Strait of Hormuz is blockaded. Current prices in the $70s/bbl better than where it was in the $60s and probably reflects some neverousness of where things may head. There are many current pressures in the oil markets that will add to pump price, including increased shipping insurance rates and some tankers not available due to embargos etc.
The improved oil prices likely to help the farmout cause rather than with a soft downward price. Fingers crossed that the Middle East does not hugely escalate.
Interesting posts about banks turning more to fossil fuel investments. Shell and bp largely turning away from unreliables (read reneawbles or reconstructables) because the financial rate of return is just not there. Chris Uhlmann has proposed that the green movement should try Fossil Fuel Free Fridays to see how far they get. Petroleum products will pervade our modern lives for a very very long time.
