Hi Taincrow, long time no see! While this deal is of concern & Disney are taking control of their own content, a couple of things I’ve read in quite a few articles: Fox are keeping their news & sports (Murdoch’s baby). Disney cannot own Fox networks as only 1 is allowed & they already own ABC. Hulu OTT is a different matter, & STAR in India. They already own Bamtech with ESPN & their OTT tech, they were planning on different packages to suit even prior to this deal, I posted an article on this months ago. Bamtech’s story is not unlike TV2...started from grass roots basically. I have an article on that & will post it for you all.
Why reinvent the wheel in different global locations if the tech is sound & the security is good? I’ve been shot down for this b4, but maybe Disney may have interest in TV2 & their telecom providers? This may derail my whole post to you, but it cost hundreds of millions of investment in Bamtech (from memory) just to get things to where they need to be for the US, Japan & markets where they are already.
Disney will have back most of Marvel content now, apparently except for Spider-Man who is still on loan to another studio. I think this content was really important to them & there are different fan bases for Disney file classics, kids, new releases & Marvel & then more adult content with Foxlight & everything else acquired with 21st Century Fox.
I’m not disputing what you are saying, but they have to wade through anti-trust & justice department first. As powerful as these entities are, there was a similar deal recently disapproved by Trump himself & in court with the justice dept. Trump should probably not have been on the “pash” with Murdoch congratulating him prematurely on the Disney deal, because from what I’ve read it won’t “create jobs”, it will slash them, it won’t be good for consumers & smaller business, most of all it won’t be good for politics in the USA, having one rule for the goose & the other for the gander & all the media spin to boot. From what I read a lot are unhappy about this (yes basically about the ‘Gorilla’ being too big).
Good luck to Disney’s Mr Iger & Fox’s Mr Murdoch with their lunch & winery dates at your estates. We will watch this unfold whilst the world is now watching.
Did I mention I really don’t like reading about US politics & USA big business, but we have to. In a way it affects us all.
