While it’s known that Alexium is supplying Alexicool to one of the two mattress majors, other US bedding companies are also using the technology. With so many US mattress companies, including the so-called mattress e-tailers, it’s difficult to determine which companies these might be.

One possibility, in my opinion, is Brooklyn Bedding.

Brooklyn Bedding was one of the original bed-in-a-box companies, launching their mattresses on Amazon in 2008. While there’s now reported to be as many as 175 US-based on-line mattress companies, Brooklyn Bedding is one of just a handful that make their own mattresses in the United States. The company has a reputation for being one of the better-quality bed-in-a-box manufacturers. (1, 2)

In early 2017, Brooklyn Bedding merged with another US bedding e-tailer, Nest Bedding, producing a vertically integrated company which is one the top 10 leaders in online bedding (combined, the companies’ revenues in 2018 were ~US$125m). Late last year, Brooklyn announced that it would be doubling its manufacturing footprint and production capacity at its Phoenix, Arizona manufacturing base. (3, 4, 5)

In September this year, the company announced that it would be expanding use of the “TitanCool” PCM-infused cooling mattress cover already available in its top-tier mattress, the Aurora Hybrid, to two of its other brands, the Titan and the Plank. (6, 7)

Earlier this month, the company announced the launch of “sleep solutions for RVing and camping”. In the RV range, the highest priced model also uses TitanCool. (8, 9)

Finally, this week, Brooklyn launched a new luxury mattress, which is available exclusively in stores. The Sedona Hybrid mattress, which is touted as providing “advanced cooling” has an added infusion of TitanCool in the foam. The cooling technology is said to be engineered to respond to individual body temperature, ensuring an optimal sleep environment. Says the owner and CEO of Brooklyn Bedding, John Merwin

Though I can’t be certain that Brooklyn Bedding is using Alexicool, there are multiple pointers that suggest to me that it might.
