Distinguished mining executive Sharon Warburton has joined South32’s board as an independent non-executive director.
A chartered accountant with more than 25 years’ experience in the resources industry, Warburton has been a non-executive director of Worley and Wesfarmers since 2019, and a non-executive director of Northern Star Resources since 2021.
South32 chair Karen Wood said Warburton was a valuable addition to the team.
“Sharon is a prominent and highly credentialled director whose appointment will enhance the board’s broad range of skills,” Wood said. “Her extensive experience in areas such as commercial, accounting and finance, major project construction, risk management and governance will support the delivery of our strategy.
“I look forward to working with Sharon to continue our work to produce commodities critical to a low-carbon future, and doing so in a way that makes a difference to the people and communities where we operate.”
