generic manufacturing

With all this news at present about shortages of some essential pharmaceuticals , e.g. injectable penicillin, I wonder if this creates a major business opportunity for IDT. They have specialised world class facilities courtesy of Pfizer and, more importantly for this country are Australian. Apparently CSL sources its penicillin from overseas. Penicillin was discovered in the middle of the last century so surely patents wouldn't be a problem. They did say that they were looking at building a generic manufacturing business to stabilize their income. Of course the Australian market may not be large enough but it looks like the world market could do with some competition. The top medical experts seem to be adamanent that simple penicillin is critically necessary in order to stop super bugs proliferating. This company has been trashed because of the spending contraction in research due to the GFC, but has an excellent history. Just my musings. DYOR E1
