That was a very interesting interview. It is tempting to say they have found the answer for the biggest subgroup (APOE4 carriers,60% )in Alzheimer's. IF they can do the same in humans and IF they can prove a treatment IN HUMANS, they may have a drug that can reverse Alzheimers, like PBT2

Prana's PBT2 has already reversed cognition loss in a human clinical trial. The trial was too short and didnt have a strong enough biomarker package considering the tools that now exist. The IMAGINE trial that is running now should address that. It is currently tracking cognition changes and building a powerful data package of biomarkers including plaque reduction, toxic oligomer reduction and brain activity changes, using imaging and blood tests developed since the last trial.
The biomarker package is to prove disease modification beyond doubt. I recon effect on cognition is almost everything and PBT2 has already cleared that bar in just 12 weeks treatment.
In contrast JNJ/ELN/PFEs bapi didnt show any significant changes in cognition in an 18 month trial. They progressed that into phase 3 trials on a trend seen in a subgroup of non APOE4 cariers. Till recently many regarded the trend seen was due to a faster than normal decline of the placebo making Bapi look good. Recently some have claimed the curved decline trend is in fact normal, increasing hope for Bapi. We will know in a few short months. There are billions in annual earnings riding on this result. The FDA has not approved a drug for AD in a long while. The pressure will be on.
