NAIF's Chief Legal Officer, Mr Chris Collins, despite all that he did to avoid seeking opinions from the Solicitor-General which ought have been used to brief the NAIF Chairperson, Board and CEO and Ministers King is giving a talk at the Legal Counsel Forum on 30 October 2024.

Given Mr Collins's role in various parties abrogation of their responsibilities concerning the j - Power transaction i made the following post:-

Mr Collins, acting on behalf of the NAIF Chairperson, CEO and Board and the two Ministers King and Gallagher avoided seeking obtaining legal opinions from the SOLICITOR-GENERAL.

In fact it seems Mr Collins played a central role in having various parties to the transaction adopt the following approach to the transaction:-

“we don’t know if the transaction is legal but we will act as if it is”.

Mr Collins has an opportunity, on 30 October, to explain the lack of ethics applied by him to NAIF largest investment.

It would be very interesting to read what Mr Collins has to say; (the NACC Chairman, Paul Brereton, might be interested in hearing Mr Collins's thoughts on the ethics surrounding the approach taken by him and others to the transaction.

    It essentially boiled down to:-

“we don’t know if the transaction is legal but we will act as if it is”.

Is that an ethical approach for a Legal Counsel to take; Mr Collins?
