Double2. You mention Italy which has a significant gold holding but it is in financial trouble and you assume that they will simply sell their gold on the open market to cancel some debt.
It won't happen that that way. They will LEVERAGE their gold to sell their bonds. The moment they do that it is no longer a relic, it has monetary worth.
