The Geoalcali company, which projects a potash mine between Navarra and Aragon,
presented this Friday to the Sangüesa City Council the approval of the execution projects,
carried out by the College of Mines.
It was a requirement raised by the consistory in response to the firm's demand to obtain a partial and conditional works license to be able to launch the 'Mina Muga' project on Navarre soil.
Some works that would be carried out for the moment without affecting the Public Utility Forests (MUP) located in the affected area,
for whose occupation a compatibility report from the Government is awaited,
nor the communal plots existing there, waiting to be completed the expropriation process.
Until these two processes are completed, the consistory would not grant the full works permit, as stated.
The basic project was approved and presented in October 2021, when the municipal works license was requested from Sangüesa.
“The Government of Navarra granted the urban authorization, after an exhaustive review, in November 2022.
And in accordance with article 194 of the Foral Legislative Decree 1/2017,
the city council is already legally in a position to grant the license,
leaving it subject to to other local or sectoral authorizations (such as the one related to Public or communal Utility Forests)”,
Geoalcali believes.
This Thursday, the company and mayors of the area met with suppliers to report on the status of the process.
