Hey, I'd forgotten this one, the Karpa Spring swindle, involving Perilya Mines.
The prospectors were locked up for "salting", and were only cleared many years later. They never caught the perpetrators, but there were some suspects. The principal one now long dead.
Big money was made in Perilya shares till they were suspended

These were real guys who became patsies for the crooks who carried out the scam. Scary how the legal system allowed it to happen.
