Reading the thread I am a bit surprised there are not more recent ASX examples quoted. Are things that clean now ? Of course it has to be buyer beware when prospects are for sale - you have to assume the sellers are out to gloss it up a bit.
Some of the over optimistic reporting by ASX companies needs jumping on IMHO - but the ASX seems unable to act. It is interesting that there is no online newsletter that robustly comments on/critiques ASX resource stock announcements - not that I am aware of. There is a need for such media - but legally it would be risky. Even on HotCopper moderators sometimes shut comments down for commenting adversely on aspects of a companies statements.
