With regard to porphyry deposits, these are large volcanic intrusive units that get mineralised over potentially multiple events.

Grades with these deposits can vary between just above background to somewhere up to 2% copper depending on the mineralising event. There can be veins with in the deposit that can get higher grades over smaller intercepts. Generally speaking anywhere above 0.5.% is ideal as long as the parameters are easy to bulk mine underground. If you take in account potential gold, silver, rhenium and molybdenum credits a copper equivalent of 1% is generally robust.

The higher grade 2% copper deposits generally have bornite copper mineralisation. In porphyry deposits bornite is an excellent indicator of a robust project. After enough holes are drilled and put into the geological model then drills can better target resource confidence and resource expansion and neighbouring prospects.

Anyway it’s early days, it takes normally Atleast 5 years to get a project close to a resource figure and potentially feasibility studies. As this is a large resources body it will take quite a while to drill holes, get cores and lab results then input into a resource model to further drill in following campaigns. It’s not uncommon to spend upwards of $100m at a venture level chasing such a project before feasibility studies. There will be multiple deposits that need testing to guarantee a large enough resource base.
