There is a correlation between sulphides and these REE that occur in the alteration when only mineralisation is found near by. BHP knew this due to their extensive experience with these deposits.

The fact is the iron stone hides the sulphides from more exact geophysics. So these need to be drilled and either you find mineralisation or alteration of rocks that exhibit gravity/magnetics but no alteration and those results point to where to drill or not drill next. Even with the right geophysics responses it’s 50/50.
