Terroist groups in places like Mali are smart enough just to do enough damage to justify their existence.
That is why they dont bother with the South where all the Gold is. They know if they get serious with the gold they will get seriously wacked.
For them its a living they wont risk.
If the gold moves out then they will have no one with valuables to steal from and kill.
Unlike most of us they fully understand that.
The gold miners are valued by the Government and population due to the money they bring in to the Country. That is all that matters.
